Translation is not finished. We test whether the translation was mapped and flavored properly.
We have to check the presentability and playability of the game. Here’s an example of how we test the game’s playability
1. You go to NPC 1 for example to get quests
2. NPC 1 asks you to pick up/mine item A, B and C from mine source and bring it to NPC 2
3. You will get additional +10 good reputation
* Game breaker variables:
– Will item A, B and C from the quest dialogue be the same name encoded as that of the actual mine source drop?
– Will NPC 2 in the quest dialogue be the same as the NPC 2 as encoded?
– Is good reputation consistent with your character stat and the quest compensation?

As a simpler answer to your question, I wouldn’t set expectations for the timing just yet. I’ll update progress and together we can see if it is indeed playable or not.

yes!! its almost finish!! btw… could you clarify that… so you mean your checking for bugs and misinterpretations before you release it? so that means the translations are done??

misinterpretations and flavoring is challenging because of the iterations involved.
The example i posted in the previous comment is one of the more simple example of misinterpretations. There could be a lot be instances for example of texts longer than the allocated box or stat.

yay. the game is almost done. i think now it’s just playable to private because of the unchecked errors. anyway, im waiting for it coming up.

we do have estimations, but keeping it internal at the moment until we grasp the amount that needs to be checked. We’re doing an initial rundown of things delivered versus things we were expecting to have changed from the developers. Wouldn’t want to do another promise that we couldn’t commit

nothing distributed to the public yet. What we have is a client burned in a generic dvd distributed between workstations for those who are part of the testing team.
We’ll distribute them once testing is done or when it is deemed playable

The mail just means that you are part of the e-mail database for Perfect World. If you have sent an e-mail to perfectworld@levelupgames.ph at any given time, it includes you automatically to the weekly update (unless you tell us to unsubscribe you).

I don’t personally jump the bandwagon for software upgrades. I do get them and test on my personal machines but don’t make it part of my day to day task. Lessons learned during the initial launch of Win 3.11, Win 98, SE, and who could forget ME. I do get them once it stabilize. Oh, if you like playing around with application you should try WINE emulators

Your friend has a chance to be a part of the CBT, but is not guaranteed to get one. Right now we are collating all winners and generating all CBT accounts. Once the DB team gets back to us we will update all winners via the perfectworld@levelupgames.ph e-mail.

we have two compositions for the testing team. Internal testers are part of a big group called game play specialists, the other one are play testers. Play testers are part of a big pool of players that are hand picked from their success at breaking down the features of the game into small detail. If you’ve read Bartels categorization of players they would excel being explorers of the game.

I now have the list, cross validating, should have winners by tomorrow. Thinking of sending the list once the client becomes available so that they have everything in one go.
Worried that if i send out a list without having the client available that there’s a possibility that they’ll forget the account or some other person would get hold of the account. They wouldn’t be able to play the game anyways.
What do you think?

Sir what if I’m a CBTwinner from GM Tristan/GM Wauks and I’m from the province, since the CBTkits will be snail-mail, most probably it will take days, will I have an option whether I want to get the CBTkits @ LU office or just wait for the mail? Since I can get it from the LU office I better do it myself than wait for the mail to come. I got a feeling the mail will take ages.

Testing is being done right so i don’t think you’d be able to have a copy of the client.

The client will be in English, but you have to remember that this is Perfect World – Philippines. Expect to see a lot of people talking in Filipino.
