The grunts are back with more info. =^^= As discussed earlier, we were going to elaborate on advancement techniques, so now we will discuss crafting and how it will affect Perfect World’s metagame.
Item crafting and customization is a staple of most MMOGs nowadays, and is one way for players to customize their equipment. From RO’s blacksmith crafting and equipment slot card systems to RF Online’s Ability Reaver combining and Talic system, customization exists in all sorts of forms. Perfect World is no exception to this; but the concept is taken one step further.
As most players who have played a version of PW may already know, Production skills may be learned at Level 5. These primary production skills (Weapon, Armor, Accessory and Herbalist – as well as Wing Craft for Wings) form the foundation upon which players can really set their characters apart from the mold.
When you craft a piece of equipment, it is treated as a monster drop – equipment statistics are generated on the spot. This is not much different from equipment stat-driven games such as ROSE Online or Diablo, but the significant point of difference is the variety of possible stat bonuses that can result from a simple crafting attempt.
Let’s go into some detail:
- A crafting attempt can result in random base statistics of three grades – minimum shop stats (one star), slight improvement (two stars) or elite (three stars). These terms are characterizations and not actual terms.
- Each piece of equipment crafted may gain anywhere from zero to three additional abilities. These abilities include, but are not limited to:
- Added HP or MP
- Added Atk, Matk, Def or Elemental Def values
- Added stats
- Reduced equipment requirements
- Increased stat maximums
- Rare effects (our resident crafter Dawg managed to create a set of boots that boosts your overall movement speed)
- In addition to special bonuses, crafted Weapons and Armor may gain anywhere from zero to four (at least, we have not seen any equipment with more than four) slots which players can insert gems into. Gems can be purchased from the Vendor NPCs and upgraded with the Synthesis NPCs (names not yet final) and can add basic bonuses to Weapons and Armor. (By “basic”, we mean general character values such as HP, MP, damage and defense)
- After crafting your ultimate equipment, you can then upgrade it, using the same process as RO’s weapon/armor upgrade. The significant difference? Failure will never destroy your equipment.
So what does this mean, exactly?
It means that players can spend days, weeks or even months crafting stuff to aim for that perfect customized equipment set. Want a high-mobility dodge set? It’s possible. An equipment set that incorporates layers and layers of Physical Defense for your tanker? Sure, why not? A weapon that can hit anything, deal mega damage and make french fries? Knock yourself out!
Right, with the good out of the way, let’s get into the better.
- Crafting is always successful. No worries about wasted material from failures.
- Crafted equipment can be broken down into base components, which can then be used to create consumable charms that temporarily increase attack or magic attack power.
- Three-star equipment can be broken down to obtain the rare stones that you need to upgrade material with.
- Crafting equipment nets you a small amount of EXP and Insight for each attempt.
I believe we’ve covered the basics of equipment customization. For more details (such as how to get the materials), I hand you over to NocturnalSun. =^_^=

ahhh… PW crafting. sweet!
nice comment, auz talaga crafting system. its not limited to one character kaya fair talaga lahat, wth 4 sockets item its really a big diffirence and really great effect for the user. Thx and nice info and I would like to know more about how to get materials for crafting.
W0w astig fair na …. lahat pwd na mag craft
@ModSoul
some are drops, some are from the item mall and some are from quests
they vary on the quality of your product
here’s an example of how crafting can evolve
1. get one part from cutting shrubs, another part from the mall and another part from a boss drop to make a +3 uber weapon badong
2. craft
3. instead of getting an +3 uber weapon badong you only get a +2 semi uber badong weapon
4. you not happy
5. you break apart +2 semi uber weapon badong
6. you get raw materials from breaking apart the weapon to make an uber potion
recycling!
yea you can get crafting items from quest.. and craft items can also be found around the map, from shrubs, stones etc.
astig d sayng items eh un stats wala prin nababanggit s builds auto build b s skill at weps lng b nagkakatalo?
Thx sir noc.
Ung sa item mall po na crafting materials, pwede po tanungin ung price in php? At lahat po ba ng mga crafted weapons/armors/accesories need ng at least 1 crafting material from the item mall? Ex. po is make Crafted Item A then you need Craft mat. A from monster, then craft mat. from boss then craft mat. from item mall. Are all crafted items needs at least 1 crafting material from item mall?
Or there are other super crafted items that dont need craft mats. from the item mall.
Sry about the continuous double post.
weee! ftw! sorry, i’m tired from work i just had to read on this. hehehe
w0w even when crafting you can gain some exp that is new for me
Aztig more power to PW-ph team
salamat sa info
@Modsoul
yup and there are legendary items that you can craft. some items are slower to mines and would be more logical to just buy in the item mall though
So u mean if you craft an item and di mo magustuhan you can break it apart and make another new one?
saya sya nman lahat pwede craft…thx for the update
wow.. astig..
kapag hindi mo nagustuhan yung kinalabasan, pwede ulit bawiin..
money back garantee?
question about upgrading of items sir. can u upgrade the level of the item (gear set po ng character)? or we need to have another set of items pag mataas na level ng char?
Ic, so meaning po is ung sa item mall na craft mats ay ung namimine po pero sobra tagal makuha. Thx po
@ MrNasi
Level wise, they don’t upgrade on level but they do upgrade on usefulness. A level 30 item for example that gives good speed or magic resist would still be useful even though you’re at level 50
Item usefulness can vary on things that you need to do for example in instance quests
thanks sir for the answer. therefore, item mall will really be a big factor for this game. im very thankful for level-up for making this game free to play. this surely will be a big hit to all players in the Philippines.
i hope soon we will have a better view on the items and the stuff needed for upgrading. can’t wait for your next post. ^_^
Sir may tanong poh ako mag kakaroon ba ng guide kung anu anu yung pwedeng makacraft
THx poh
@ Dolph
Yes we’ll provide guides as we go along
I’m trying the malaysian version of this game and I really loved it… But it’s all in chinese, and I can’t understand anything… So I really want to know if is there any official date to launch this version of the game (phillipine)… If there is, please post here!
Thanks
cool game can i ask when wud it be release?
I noticed when you craft an item your character’s name is engraved on it. Does that mean no one else can use it?
@HectorL and maxline
Still no date for the release. If you’re outside the philippines you can’t play this version due to the ip block.
No failures? Whether in crafting, “socketing,” or upgrading? As in “overupgrades” (ala RO, naka ilang pike ako bago ko nakamtan ang +10 pike) are non-existent? NICE!
You do not fail while crafting items. However, if you upgrade using the Fairy Stone, there is a chance of failure, which wipes out upgrade levels. Weapons do not get destroyed short of disassembly or selling to NPCs.
The name is simply an identifier as to who crafted the item. Any player can use an item crafted by someone else.
what is the difference of the fairy stone to other upgrade stones?
What? Foreign IP will be blocked? Even at OBT and official release? That’s really bad =/…
So.. I’m out…
Why is Malaysian version open for foreign? And the game is full chinese…. Why will foreign IP be blocked if the game is in english, the only version in english! That’s really bad… many people from outside philipines would really play this game in this server… but if there’s going to have a IP Block, the server will lost many players….
Sorry for english mistakes…
May I Ask Something?…
I Am Also Planning To Go To A Fashi…
What Is Your Build Now?.. Hehe Sorry If Asking This Is Not Allowed, But I Am Just So Cautious Not To Mess My Characters Status ^^..
And Another Question..
Those Who Won In GM TRistan’s BLOGSPOT.. Will they still be able to get a CBT ACCOUNT? because the website said that there will be 250 CHOSEN i-cafe, i am somehow worried that instead of the winners could be playing in their home through the sent SNAIL MAIL of THE CD and account, they may be rather going to the internet cafe’s…
waaaaa…
Foreign IP will be blocked???
mga 2 months ko lang pala 2 malalaro d2 sa pinas..
huhuhu…
sana maresolve to.. gus2 ko i2loy mglaro nito even outside the phil..
thnx
@Arvin

Clan and Individuals who are part of CBT shall be allowed access after the 250 cafe
